Rio Nanay angelfish, also known as Peruvian Altum angelfish, are a type of angelfish that originates from the Rio Nanay river in Peru. They are easily recognizable by a distinctive black spot below their dorsal fin, as well as rusty brown or reddish spots throughout their bodies. While they are a popular choice for aquarists, they are considered a wild color form of the common angelfish, Pterophyllum scalare, and should be differentiated from the true Altum angelfish.
