The Purple Tetra (Hyphessobrycon metae) is a small, peaceful, and colorful tetra native to South America, particularly the middle Río Orinoco watershed in Colombia and Venezuela. They are known for their striking contrasting purple and jade green colors, and are relatively easy to care for in an aquarium.
