The Five-banded Barb, scientifically named Desmopuntius pentazona, is a freshwater fish native to Southeast Asia, particularly blackwater streams and peat swamps in Borneo. They are often mistaken for the similar Desmopuntius hexazona, which lacks a black spot at the base of the dorsal fin. Five-banded barbs are known for their peaceful nature and smaller size compared to the more common Tiger Barb.
