This may be the single smallest betta on Earth! These tiny cuties belong the the B. coccina species complex, characterized by small size, elongated bodies, and bubblenesting habits. While Api-Api may not be the most colourful betta, they are still a pleasing red colour. And with an adult size of only 3cm/just over an inch, these bettas can be kept in a 2.5-5 gallon tank for their whole lives! Soft, acidic water is preferred, as is dim lighting and dense planting. Tankmates are best avoided with this shy species, but Api-Api pack enough personality into a teeny package to make it worthwhile!
